How a Customized PET Bottle Washing Solution Helped Our Customer in Venezuela Build a More Efficient Recycling Plant

Keywords: PET bottle washing solution, PET recycling plant, PET bottle recycling equipment, PET hot washing system, customized plastic recycling line

The first question many recyclers ask is:

"How much does a PET bottle washing line cost?"

The better question is:

"What kind of washing line does my material actually need?"

Two recycling plants may process the same amount of PET bottles per hour, yet require completely different equipment configurations. The difference lies in the condition of the raw materials, the required flake quality, factory layout, utilities, labor costs, and future expansion plans.

That was exactly the starting point for one of our recent projects in Venezuela.

Instead of recommending a standard production line, our engineering team designed a recycling solution around the customer's actual operating conditions—ensuring that every machine would contribute to cleaner PET flakes, efficient operation, and long-term investment value.

Every PET Bottle Is Different—So Is Every Recycling Line

PET bottle recycling is not simply about crushing bottles into flakes.

The quality of the final recycled material depends on how effectively the washing system removes contaminants throughout the entire process.

For this Venezuelan project, the customer mainly processes mixed post-consumer PET beverage bottles collected from the local recycling market. These bottles often contain:

· Beverage residue

· Dust and sand

· Label adhesives

· Bottle caps and rings

· Organic contamination

· Mixed plastic impurities

Producing clean PET flakes requires much more than a crusher. Every washing stage has a specific role in improving material quality.

Why We Designed This Configuration

Rather than increasing the number of machines unnecessarily, we focused on building a practical process that balances cleaning efficiency, operating cost, and maintenance.

The customized line includes:

· Feeding Conveyor

· PET Bottle Crusher

· Vertical Dewatering Machine

· Sink-Float Separation Tank

· Two Hot Washing Tanks

· Final Dewatering Machine

· Pneumatic Conveying & Storage Silo

Each machine performs a different task, and together they create a complete PET bottle recycling process.

Why Two Hot Washing Tanks Instead of One?

One feature that makes this project different is the dual hot washing system.

Many recycling plants use only one hot washer. That configuration can work well for relatively clean PET bottles.

However, when processing bottles collected from municipal recycling streams, contamination levels are often much higher.

Instead of increasing washing temperature excessively, adding a second hot washing stage provides additional cleaning time and friction, allowing contaminants to be removed more effectively.

This approach helps eliminate:

· Glue residue

· Sticky labels

· Oil contamination

· Sugar residue

· Organic deposits

· Fine dirt attached to PET flakes

The result is cleaner recycled PET flakes with greater market value and improved downstream processing performance.

Why Density Separation Still Matters

One of the simplest processes in a PET recycling plant is also one of the most important.

The Sink-Float Separation Tank uses the density difference between plastics to separate materials automatically.

PET flakes sink naturally, while bottle caps, rings, and many polyolefin contaminants float to the surface.

This step significantly reduces cross-contamination before the material enters the hot washing process, helping recyclers produce cleaner flakes with less manual sorting.

Although the principle is simple, its impact on final product quality is substantial.

Removing Water Efficiently Is Just as Important as Washing

Many recycling plants focus on washing performance but overlook moisture control.

High moisture content increases transportation costs, affects storage conditions, and reduces the efficiency of downstream equipment.

For this reason, the line combines a Vertical Dewatering Machine with a final dewatering stage before pneumatic conveying.

By removing water progressively throughout the process, the system improves production stability while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

A Customized Solution Always Starts Before Manufacturing

Every recycling project begins with engineering—not fabrication.

Before production started, our technical team discussed several key questions with the customer:

· What type of PET bottles will be processed?

· How contaminated is the incoming material?

· What flake quality is expected?

· How much factory space is available?

· What is the planned investment budget?

· Is future capacity expansion required?

The answers to these questions determine the process design far more than the desired production capacity alone.

That is why we do not believe in selling identical recycling lines to every customer.

Instead, each project is designed around the customer's own production objectives.

Safe Container Loading Is Part of the Engineering Process

Building reliable recycling equipment is only part of a successful overseas project.

Proper export packaging and container loading are equally important.

Every machine in this PET bottle recycling line was securely protected, labeled, and positioned inside the container to minimize movement during international transportation.

This careful preparation allows customers to receive equipment in excellent condition and makes on-site installation more efficient.

For international projects, attention to these details helps reduce both shipping risks and installation time.
